First, you don’t have to be a basketball team, or even play basketball. At Monk Says…
I use basketball simply as a bridge between the gap in investment language and how we speak normally. I use something you have a basic understanding of to explain something you don’t fully understand.
I heard what Monk was doing, and I asked him to mentor my son in Financial Literacy. From those results we brought him on to teach the entire team.
It feels good knowing that just a couple of months ago we started talking about this. Now, I’m witnessing how it works up close.
The coaches, staff, and Athletic Director of St Patrick – St Vincent High School in Vallejo, CA engaged Monk Says…to be the first of its kind Financial Coach to their basketball team. The 3-time state champion team saw the results of the Financial Literacy methods at Monk Says…and understood the value that it adds to their winning program. The 2024-2025 Division Champions’ mission for Monk Says…is to teach Financial Literacy to their players with the goal of breaking the 85% financial failure rate of professional athletes (and most adults). Through Monk Says…the student athletes get class instruction that most adults never get.
Through a generous donation from the St Patrick - St Vincent alumni, Monk Says was engaged,
and shares of Sony stock were purchased at GiveAshare.com.
But you don’t have to be an athlete to grasp this. You can purchase shares of Sony or a variety of other companies through GiveAshare.com, plug into MonkSays.com for Financial Literacy broken into small bites of information to be easily absorbed, then apply what you learn.
