Monk Says…What does Financial Freedom look like?

Freedom

It is more than a car, a house, or a vacation.

In the book The 4 Hour Workweek, Timothy Ferriss talks about how to design your ideal lifestyle. He asked you to write down what you want in your dream life-on a day-to-day basis.

Then he has you write down how much that idea actually costs. Odds are, it doesn’t cost much after you take care of the basic necessities.

Here’s one way it has looked for me over the years:

When I was early in my career as a Supervisor at UPS, the paychecks would show up in the early morning Air delivery bags (like 5am or 6am).

This was before direct deposit was a thing.

I had multiple streams of income coming in so instead of waiting for my paycheck, I would just pick up my check on the next business day.

I was able to buy time. I could rest or do anything other than wait for a paycheck to arrive.

Freedom looks like:
I didn’t have to wait for my check. I’ll pick it up on the next business day.

Freedom looks like:
My car needs fixing and I have the cash to do it without having to burden someone else with rides or buses.

Freedom looks like:
The kids have a sudden need and I’ve got it covered by myself.

Freedom looks like:
I don’t have to rely on someone else for my day-to-day survival.

Freedom looks like
I own my time!

All investment goals start with your WHY. Freedom is a very powerful WHY
