Monk Says…Progress is greater than Perfection

Progress Profection

Somebody needs to hear this.

In your investment journey, everything will not always work out as planned. This is the reason that when I teach Financial Literacy, my first lesson is to define your WHY? Why are you investing?

But the second lesson is overcoming losses (because losses are inevitable).

No investment will go up forever. But no investment will stay down forever either.

The trick is to make gains while limiting your downs.

Mankind, Democracy, and your portfolio moves with advances and setbacks.

Yes, I have made money. But I have also lost money. This is why I can teach from my lived experience on Wall Street and Corporate Finance.

A loss ain’t a loss, it’s a lesson.
-Jay Z

That loss becomes a lesson if you take time to reflect on what went right and what went wrong. Then, apply it.

It only becomes a permanent loss if you quit. So pause, wait on the sidelines, then tell the coach to put you back in the game.

Because the name of the game is progress, not perfection.
