Monk Says…Your long-term Goals vs your short-term Reality

If making the wrong move will cost you everything, you won’t take that risk. Instead, you optimize for survival.

I remember an episode in the hit series Atlanta, Earn needed money so he pawned his cell phone. Darius convinced Earn to trade up that cell phone for a sword.

Then, the sword for a dog.

Then, turn the dog (a Cane Corso) over to a dog breeder.

The resulting valuable pups would be born (months later).

This made Earn furious. Earn stated to Darius that he “needed that money today, he needed to eat today- not months from now”!

And this is the paradox.

The answer: you have to start investing anyway.

Even if it’s just a few dollars.

With the ability to buy fractional shares of almost any company through investment apps, you can literally start with $10.

You may not make enough money to retire early, but what if you made enough to buy a new water pump for your car when it goes out?

You may not be able to buy a bigger place to live, but what if you made enough so that you are comfortable where you currently live?

By getting in the game you will not only make money but also start learning while you earn (pun intended).

The biggest reason why athletes and lottery winners eventually go broke is because they never learned how to make money work for them.

Learn from other people’s mistakes because you won’t live long enough to make them all yourself.
