REM in this case is not Rapid Eye Movement from a deep sleep. This REM stands for Rare Earth Minerals found all over the world, but for thousands of years has been mined on the continent of Africa (as well as others places).
REM’s are at the heart of the renewed interest in Africa. They are different from Critical Minerals like gold, silver, copper, nickel, cobalt, and titanium.
