If you THINK differently, you will act different. If you Act differently, you will Get different results.
Dame Dash, one third of the Roc-A- Fella Records founders triad (Dame Dash, Jay-Z, Kareem Burke) famously spoke about how hip hop artists go broke. Dame called it the hip hop starter kit.
Dame outlined how a typical new artist can quickly run through $1Mill.
Now, let’s take all of those negative actions outlined by Dame and apply the Think, Act, Get principle and see what can come of it.
First thing, hire an accountant because taxes will be huge and you will need them to audit your books down the line when you feel you haven’t been properly compensated for your artistry.
Signed with a major record label? Buy a piece of the label:
Sony: (stock symbol:SONY)
Warner Music Group: (stock symbol:WMG)
Universal Music Group: (stock symbol:UMGNF)
Vivendi: (stock symbol:VIVHY)
If you buy into Sony, you not only get a piece of the label, but you also get a piece of The Beatles music publishing catalog that Michael Jackson sold them.
You have to get a car? Lease the Ferrari, then buy the company:
(stock symbol:RACE)
Have to get the clothes and requisite jewelry? Then buy the company Louis Vuitton (stock symbol:LVMHY).
You not only get a piece of the Louis Vuitton clothing company, but you also get a piece of the Tiffany’s jewelry company.
Have to buy a place to live? Buy the home builder Toll Brothers
(stock symbol:TOL).
But don’t stop there, keep going.
Live Nation the concert promoter is publicly traded
(stock symbol:LYV)
The beverage company Diageo is publicly traded:
(stock symbol:DEO)
Yes, THAT Diageo!
Full disclosure: I have purchased several of the companies listed above.
Now, I am not saying YOU should buy any of the companies listed above. This is an exploration to illustrate a situation that Dame Dash stated is usually a negative, and turn it into a positive by applying: Think, Act, Get.
There are artists who understood this like Nipsey Hustle.
