The holiday season is now upon us. Gifts will be bought and gifts will be given.
Michael Jackson sang that you must give love on Christmas Day and there is no greater gift than love.
So, the 2nd greatest gift is the gift of ownership.
Can you name what you gave or received 3 Christmas’ ago?
Did you know that you can give the gift of stock ownership and you can add to it every holiday, birthday, allowance day, or just because.
The “just because” gift is the 3rd greatest gift!
In the movie The Karate Kid, the instructor taught karate by using small unrelated movements in a repetitive motion. Those movements were not thought to have anything to do with karate.
That was until those small movements were shown in the bigger context of karate.
This is similar to why I bought McDonald’s stock to teach my kids investing when they were young.
McDonald’s was on sale and it was a company my kids could understand.
I was able to help them understand the correlation between the McDonald’s Play Place where they played, the Happy Meal that they ate, the stock certificate they owned, and the dividend check they received.
That dividend check will continue to build upon itself like a rolling snowball.
And it all started with a Happy Meal!
We have to do something different to get different results.
Wax on / Wax off!!!
I buy so many shares as gifts from www.GiveAshare.com that they have agreed to give a discount to anyone who uses the discount code:MonkSays
From their website you can purchase and ship shares world wide.
It is not too late to purchase a holiday present. Because it is a certificate, www.GiveAshare.comhas an option to download & print the certificate.
If you want to see financial literacy change someone’s life, give them a share of stock in their favorite company or brand they patronize.
But if it’s a dividend paying stock, watch how their interest and knowledge expands when they receive regular checks from that brand!
Monk Says…
Investing is a game and I teach how to play it. Like Omar said in The Wire, “the game is out there. It’s either play, or get played”.
I recently retired early, and now that I’ve reclaimed my time, I use it to teach financial literacy to the youth, young adults, and the mothers who raise them.
To help spread the message of financial literacy, share this with 3 people:
- Your children/family
- Your good friend
- Your work buddy
Then ask them to give YOU their opinion on this post.
